Wedding Contest Winners Announced!Starved Rock's "Romance at the Rock" Congratulations to Christopher & Mindy Henning!
Mindy Blanchard and her fiance', Christopher Henning were married July 10, 2010 at 10:10 am in an an outdoor ceremony at Starved Rock Lodge's Canyonside Courtyard. The couple won the dream wedding in a contest Starved Rock held earlier this year. In the winning essay, Groom Christopher Henning said, "Starved Rock has been at the top of our list when discussing where to have the ceremony. My mother was an artist and often took me and my siblings to Starved Rock as children. Some of the natural beauty of the park was photographed by my mother and was the subject of her work. In 1994, my mother passed away. She taught us an appreciation for nature and had a passion for preserving its beauty."
The couple received the venue, reception, wedding cake (from in-house baker, Maureen Stabler) at no cost, all from Starved Rock.
In addition, hair and make-up was provided by Neil Pleskovitch of Lucious Moi, photography.
Wedding Photography was provided by Kathy Casstevens-Jasiek.
Beautiful florals were provided by Mary's Special Touch.
Reverend Duane Kaufman officiated the ceremony at the Canyonside Courtyard.
